Web 2.0 sites are free platforms where you can publish your own pages. Used well, they give you a place to publish helpful content that links to your main site. A post in the "Free backlink" series on X picks Strikingly, the site builder, as backlink number 9. Here is what the post suggests, what Strikingly's free plan actually gives you, and what I couldn't verify.
How to Get a Free DR 93 Dofollow Backlink from the Canva Apps Marketplace
Most free backlink lists are stuffed with low-value directories. App marketplaces run by big platforms are a different kind of opportunity: the domains are huge, the pages are relevant to software, and every approved app gets a public listing that points back to the developer's website. This guide covers the Canva Apps Marketplace, which a recent post on X describes as a free source of dofollow links from a DR 93 domain.
What is the Canva Apps Marketplace?
Canva is the online design tool used by millions of people, and its apps marketplace is where those users find add-ons that run inside the Canva editor: AI image generators, stock libraries, data connectors, translation tools and more. Developers build these apps with the Canva Apps SDK, manage them in the Canva Developer Portal, and submit them for review. Once a public app is approved, it gets its own listing page, which includes links to the developer's site.
DR and link attributes
- Domain Rating: DR 93, as stated in the source post.
- Link type: the source post says the app page gives you dofollow links to your site.
- Cost: free to list according to the source post. The real cost is the time it takes to build an app that passes Canva's review.
Step-by-step: how to get listed
Step 1: Create a public app in the Developer Portal
Sign in to Canva and open the Developer Portal apps page. Create a new app and choose a public app, because only public apps are released to everyone on the marketplace. Private apps are only released to a single Canva team, so they won't give you a public listing page.
Step 2: Build the app and add your listing
Build your app with the Canva Apps SDK and upload its bundle through the Canva CLI or the Developer Portal. Then, in the Developer Portal, go to Release > App listing details and fill in the Text, Media, and Links pages. The Links section is where your website URL goes, so make sure it points to the page you want to build authority for.
Step 3: Pass review
On Release > App status, agree to the terms and submit the app for review. According to Canva's submission docs, the app joins Canva's review queue and a support ticket is opened to track it. If your app requires users to log in to a third-party service, add test credentials and clear instructions under Release > Testing instructions so reviewers can actually try it.
Caveats and common pitfalls
- You need a real, working app. This is not a form you fill out in five minutes. If your product has no natural reason to live inside Canva, the effort may outweigh one link.
- You can't edit while in review. A submitted app is locked. If you spot a mistake, you have to cancel the submission, fix it, and resubmit, which puts you back in the queue.
- Give reviewers what they need. Missing login details or unclear testing instructions are an easy way to slow down or fail review.
- Verify the link attribute yourself. The dofollow claim comes from the source post. Marketplaces change their templates, so once you're live, inspect the outbound link for
rel="nofollow",ugcorsponsoredbefore you count it. - The DR figure comes from the source post. Check it in your own SEO tool if the exact number matters.
Which sites is this good for?
- AI image, video, copywriting, and translation tools that fit naturally into a design workflow.
- Stock media, icon, font, and template libraries.
- Data, chart, QR code, and marketing tools whose output ends up in a design.
- A poor fit for content sites, blogs, or SaaS products with nothing to offer inside Canva.

Most "free backlink" lists are full of low-quality directories. App marketplaces run by large SaaS companies are different: they have very high domain authority, they are topically relevant to software, and every approved app gets its own page that links back to the developer's site. This guide covers one of them, the Atlassian Marketplace, which a recent post on X describes as a free source of a dofollow link from a DR 92 domain.
When a new term or meme starts trending, Google's AI Overview has very little to cite yet. It reaches for a handful of high-authority platforms where content can be published fast. If you publish there first, with a link back to your own site, you have a shot at two wins at once.
